Late afternoon photo shoot using Voigtlander Nokton 40 F1.4 Classic MC
I usually will check the sun position on the Sun Surveyor App when planning the shoot. I didn’t this time and when I showed up the sun was not even near the position I thought it would be. I thought he street will be line up with where the sun is but sun had passed way over that and blocked by the building. Using the pocket of sunlight between buildings and the reflection from glass windows will be my only option.
When walking the up the bridge we got a lot more sun. Totally different back ground, different look and of course different camera setup. I added the ND filter so I don’t have to deal with the issues caused by High Speed Sync.
Lighting will be tricky when model wearing sunglasses. The reflection of strobe light can easily show on the glasses. Have to place the light more to the back and let the model turn the face a bit more away from it. Of course the light still need to look good and natural.
Last one and it was shot with natural light only. I’m pretty sure I can get a better shot if we used strobe but this was at the cross walk. To avoid the pedestrians we needed to act fast.
Gear used: Profoto B2, Profoto OCF silver beauty dish (no diffusion panel), Nikon Z7, Voigtlander Nokton 40 F1.4. Gobe 3 stops ND filter.
